Welcome!

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I’m Raquel, a Canadian, a writer, a mother, and now a veterinary student embarking on a bit of an adventure across the pond.

Over the next four years, I’ll be sharing bits and pieces of my journey through veterinary school in the UK, along with some of the adventures (and inevitable blunders) that come with living in a new country.

You can expect updates on vet school, plenty of photos of the beautiful Bristol and Somerset countryside, some travels here and there, and probably the occasional account of getting hopelessly lost.

There will likely be a few ramblings and reflections thrown in for good measure, too!

This blog is really just a place to document the experience: the big moments, the little ones, and everything in between. Feel free to have a wander around, drop me a line, or let me know if there’s something you’d like me to write about. I’m always happy to hear from you!

A Routine, a Lecture, and a Little Bit of Wells

Another week and a bit more routine later and here I am standing at the edge of another week about to begin — and feeling excited for what it will bring. After three weeks in vet school (definitely still including orientation week, even if it’s Week 0!) a routine is starting to slowly form —…

  • Foundations, Foundations

    Foundations, Foundations

It’s funny how one week can both fly by and simultaneously appear to take a lifetime! The past week has felt that way and has been full of foundational lectures, practicals, and social time. The amount of foundation work has been intense and slightly overwhelming, with essentially the content of my whole four years of…
